The name “Bingo” came from a variation of “Beano”, as the game was originally played with dried beans. In his excitement, one of the players in New York accidentally yelled “Bingo” instead of yelling “Beano”. From there, the legend of bingo grew and more people began to pick it up.
Rules of the game
Bingo is a game that can involve as many or as few people as possible. Each player is given a card of their own that is marked with grid. On each card, there is a different combination of numbers which can be used to make a winning hand of bingo. Before each hand is played, a winning pattern is announced. The player can either win by filling up the bingo card or making a pattern which would be designated before hand.
After the pattern is announced, a non player will draw numbered balls randomly out of a container. He then announces the number on the ball and the players try to match that number with the numbers on their card. That is done repeatedly until one of the players makes the necessary combination. When that combination does occur, the winning player shouts “Bingo” as the game is stopped. After it is confirmed that a player has indeed hit a winning card, the player is a winner.
Following that, the cards are reset and the game begins anew. This is one of the primary reasons why people love the game. There is always another chance to win waiting just around the corner.
